Interesting poll. Yeah why is Ensei so high up there? If anything, I would have thought Jin would have been high up there due to his high number of appearances in the last book. Speaking of which, Jin isn't on that list! As for Seiran and Seiga, my guess is that they must just have pretty large fanbases. Otherwise, I think the other rankings are pretty understandable. Actually, Shuuei is quite low on there...

I don't know... this chapter did show some nice sides of Ou Ki but I'm not sure if I like that. It's always easier when there's no grey area but I guess that's what politics is all about, right?

Ah well that is a possibility as well. It could go either way I guess. This passage does show that Ryuuki is now aware of his flaws and may change, but I don't think Ou Ki did this simply to help him. I feel like Ou Ki is the kind of guy who would help him and even with his help, show that Ryuuki is not the best person for the job. It's the ultimate 'noble' thing to do.

Personally, since the light novels are the original version of the story, I'd choose them over the manga. Which is also related to the fact that the novels are far more ahead than the manga (at least the last time I checked).
I also like that the novels have lots of interesting and longer conversations that you wouldn't get as much in the manga or even the anime. I'm deeply grateful that you take the time to translate these whole books.
Between volume 15 and 16, I think it's a close call. 16 has had some good moments so far (particularly Ou Ki's conversation with Ryuuki and getting Shusui back (yay!)) but I think 15 takes it with some great moments first coming into the Hyou clan (Jin and Shuuei are amusing) and anything with Shouka. Shouka is awesome.

As always, thanks for the translation.
Wow. That was a deep conversation.
So this is what Ryouou said before about making Ryuuki leave on his own? It very well may work. If he wasn't before, Ryuuki's in deep trouble now. Particularly emotionally now.
And as interesting as that conversation was, I prefer what's going on in the Hyou clan since it's less depressing and less helpless. They'll probably see Ruka and my bet is that she'll die, or this may involve some sacrifice with Shusui too... hmm... then Riou will take over? That may be too easy.

Oh man... Sa Sakujun you crazy evil...
It would make sense that it's since he is the lazy kind of person who would just leave at a pause in the battle and isn't stronger than Seiran and therefore not as strong as Shuuei. And we've seen him semi-involved with Hyou clan stuff before in Sa province...
but I can't think of what he's plotting. Only that if he's dead, he's currently possessed/being used by some supernatural being so his motives aren't as important as those of his master, which seem to be the demise of the Hyou clan.
Still, poor Shuuei. I can't tell if he's better or worse off than Ryuuki in his love life. Either way, it's a very sad situation.
And thanks again for the translations.

Thanks again for the fast translations. You are awesome :)
Ah so we will find out who the woman with the red umbrella is. I'm not sure if that makes me more anxious to find out or happy that it's at least revealed in this book so the suspense will end.
And I feel really bad for Shuuei since whenever Shusui talks about important people to her, he's never mentioned. Oh unrequited love...
And I was thinking that anyone who would want Shusui dead would be someone who wants to limit Ruka's options so most likely whoever is trying to silence her but the only person we know/think to be on that person's team is Jin and we know where he is right now... and the 'assassin' will probably have some supernatural abilities (since it's highly unlikely they could make it to the lower level where the Prison is without some supernatural help) so who are our options for culprits? should we know...?

Ah ok. Thank you for the clarification.

Yeah that's what I'm wondering. I was pretty sure Bara-hime would have been in the Prison of Time...
I'm still confused.
Hehe okay maybe it's not recklessness but I still think his justification for his 'seemingly reckless' actions are not that great. Although love makes fools of us all...

wow thanks for the fast translations!
I thought Shuuei at first was quite optimistic but I think maybe it's just his priorities. He doesn't seem to take death that seriously and depends on others to possibly save him so he's actually quite reckless as opposed to optimistic.
And Ruka was the last person who was in the Prison of Time? wait... then where was Bara-hime? I'm confused. (And why was Ruka imprisoned? Because of her crazy dad?)
And the lady with the red umbrella must be supernatural. Maybe a guardian/creator of the Prison of Time?

"The most lamentable thing was that the idea of Ruka being his mother seemed to be more plausible."
Omg poor Riou...

And yeah I think it's safe to say Hien is dead since she's not with the Hyou clan or with Ou Ki. How she died though, would be an interesting story.

Also, that is one frickin large library.
