What kind of "proof" is that? You quote just hearsay. This is not from Paul Thurrotts blog but from somebody else who claims Thurrott assumed it was due to the Facebook app but who doesn't provide a link to his source either. I have never read this site and I see no reason to trust it more than any other obscure site on the internet.

I still cannot find any blog post of Thurrott where he blames Microsoft. Maybe he said something like that it in a podcast or somewhere else. I still would like to see a link to an original source. Not hearsay. Because I would like to know what he really said. Though even if he really just assumed the Facebook app was the culprit it is hardly blasphemy.

Yes Apple has the advantage of having only to deal with their own hardware. This is the reason Microsoft came up with their "chassis 1 spec" which forced the OEMs to use very similar hardware (especially all WP7 first generation phones have the same Qualcomm Snapdragon processor even Samsung though they have their own better processors).

But you know there is also a world outside the US. For about 16 weeks in 2007 the first iPhone was only sold in the US only. Then they started selling it in European countries. The second iPhone (3G) was already released in about 80 countries with about as much carriers. This doesn't prevented them to ship updates much more quickly. I don't like the iPhone for several reasons (mainly their lock-in practice) but you have to acknowledge that.

Well I don't follow his site all the time but I have just read all his blog posts about the data issue and he did not say it was MS fault. What he said at some point was that MS knew who was at fault much earlier without giving a warning to their customers not to use Yahoo. And that turned out to be very true.

Maybe he said it somewhere else I don't know. Please show me link. Otherwise I assume you made that up.

That could be. Maybe it is also because some business users return to WM until the business user functions like Exchange support, PIM functions etc. will improve or at least be opened up more to 3rd party developers.

For example I want to return to WM. I like the WP7 user interface really very much but at the end of the day I need back something as powerfull as Pocket Informant, I need easy exchange of files (yes there are different workarounds but it is a big waste of time) etc.. I couldn't care less about games or Facebook.

So I was shocked when I found out that a unbranded HD2 is about 150 Euro more than the HD7, Mozart or Omnia 7 which is almost the same price I paid for the HD2 back in 2009. :( But the HD2 is the only WM phone I would go back to.

They are pre NoDo. And they sell 16 GB and 8 GB versions.

Though WP7 does not support tethering the Samsung Omnia 7 (and also the Focus) have a hidden option in the debug menu which allows to enable at least USB tethering.

The Omnia 7 sold in Germany have German, English, French, Italian and Spanish language in the ROM. I don't know which versions are sold in the UK but in Germany both the 16 GB and the 8 GB version is sold, unbranded and branded.

BTW many shops sell a unlocked 16 GB version with T-Mobile branding. Though it is unlocked some settings like MMS settings and search provider in IE cannot be changed by default. Samsung has released a tool now which allows you to change at least the MMS settings. But the IE search provider can only be changed if you jailbreak the phone using Chevron WP7. But Chevron will stop working once the NoDo update will come out (if ever). If you care about this you should get a unbranded version.

What is shocking is that at the same time Amazon (Germany) keeps selling the unbranded, unlocked HTC HD2 (Windows Mobile 6.5) for 449 Euros. The branded but unlocked HD2 versions also still sells for around 400 Euros elsewhere. Prices for the HD2 had dropped for a short period in October/November last year but have gone up again. Maybe that is because HD2 can run WM 6.5, Android and WP7.
