I too read this chapter twice. I found it funny when I went to take notes the second time through. I opened my notebook and found that I took notes about the same thing. For me Pete hit it out of the park with his words on Page 16.

When he talks about David's giving up on God- Is that why he ran? This just spoke to me. He went on with how it seems the smartest move to run sometimes but is it really a good move or a show of a lack of faith. (paraphrasing) I hadn't thought of it this way. I have always been a survivor, a fend for yourself because you had to girl. I look back and wonder how many times I was thinking that running from, shutting the door on or just not acknowledging an issue was really causing me to miss blessings that God had for me.

"Giving up just before God's Miracles" (C.S.Lewis quoted of pg 23.) Oh how this makes me irritated. I have no one but myself to blame for missing the miracle. No one but myself. How many miracles have you missed? Did this only effect me?

chapter 1 was a great opener! Pete hit some great points.
when i read the thoughts in the back. #4 really struck me. i am not angry with God for the pain and suffering in the world. i am angry at the yucky flesh that has free will. this free will if used in a bad way creates the suffering and pain. it affects others and creates situations that make others Plan A's fail leading them to Plan B.

I too use to struggle with these things. It is hard. Over the years I have learned to put some of it aside. I still will have momments of yearning what others appear to have. But then I try to Yearn It Silently and then Let It Go.

I have also found that the more yucky baggage I carry around and don't deal with the more blessings I miss from God.

I love how open you are. Thank you so much for being genuine.
