The military junta in Egypt is headed by the Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi; when asking any Egyptian about SCAF they will mention Tantawi. So yes, there is a "face" to the new regime more or less

I must say I love the bit where the author makes mention of the "veiled women":
"Islamists prominently among them, their veiled women fondling silk underwear and feeding pizza and Diet Coke to their children"

Notice the words - "their women" - meant to bolster the typical orientalist view of the "Islamists" (whatever that made up term means) and how women are seen - as objects, owned by their male companions.

As a female, who mind you wears no religious covering whatsoever, I feel disgusted by this blatant act of xenophobia being paraded as 'law' in order to make it seem 'just' or permissible.
Anyone defending this madness as being acceptable due to its being 'law' is nothing more than a braying fool who would allow an unjust law to be pushed upon a minority group (i.e. Muslims who choose to cover themselves via the Burqa, Niqab etc.) rather than question its logic and motives.

Whether any of you agree with this religious attire or not is of no matter - any comment belittling anyone for choosing to dress in accordance to their religious beliefs is childish. Also, there is no need to compare the attire to costumes - it really is not necessary.

Unjust laws are meant to be broken - and should be. This asinine law being one of them.

I didn't like the song per se, for stylistic reasons not content. It was 'old' as far as I know as well. Asinine government action here, nothing new. Also, they gave him more publicity and now many more have heard the song. Good job Suleiman, that's sticking it to him.

Egyptians are not "finally interested in Palestinians", this statements cry's ignorance. Egyptians for the longest time have always supported their Palestinian brethren; pre and post-revolution. I was part of the first Gaza Freedom March in Egypt almost 2 years ago and I saw it with my own eyes. Petty and ignorant statement there "Salty", try again.
