Agree with the above, involve Austin in the decision process: good that he likes the new place. In a perfect world he could take with him the staff he's already bonded with.

Re the computers- what if it's not just a phase? (Don't panic, this is just so you know what I'm on about)
You don't say how he is with the family car. My grandson (3yrs) hops into the drivers seat every time we open the car door. He plays at driver and pretends and is v reluctant to assume his seat in the back. I hope it's not just a phase: being happy & comfortable driving a car is invaluable in today's world ( and yet something my mother never mastered).

In the same way, happy & comfortable using a computer / tablet / touch screen is increasingly valuable skill for youngsters today. I hope its not just a phase for Austin. I hope you can show him how to find things - as an introduction to this powerful tool. Luckily, this will also require him to master his letters and a few simple words.

I wish you luck. I was very blessed to find a perfect village school to start my eldest in - country village, low fees, orchard & climbing frame at the back, storytime under the trees. Truly memorable.

Sounds familiar, except I have no desire to redecorate. Well, maybe the bathroom. How though, do your eleventy seven bags in the bedroom affect the dining room decorations?

I'm not sure I survived December- 2 trips to the Sorting office to pick up the last errant parcel left me feeling distinctly under the weather. But I have a head start on January's challenge: I'm taking my cue from your 2011 photo blog, but trying it for a month.

Gosh, your post takes me back ! So many memories in my nan's house: it was my home for a few precious years. I have some china and a few bits. Tea with fruit jelly and scones, and watch Star Trek was my weekly treat. My most heart-wrenching decision was when I could have pushed to buy their house, and didn't, and I still don't know if I made the right decision. I'd love to peak into an alternative universe to see how that other timeline turned out.

My September had a mind of its own, but that was good. I like interesting diversions.
