Lindsey, just hang in there; smile and go on. You know that no amount of advice from anyone is going to change the plan that God has for your life. When the right time and the right person all fit into His plan, you'll know.

As a manager in the mental health field in NC I am always looking for ways to motivate staff and to make work more enjoyable. The last few years have been tough as NC has gone through extensive reform of their mental health system which has been rocky at best. Whenever providers think they have figured out how the state wants things done, they change the rules again. Any way that I can help my staff to continue to enjoy the work they do will benefit, them, our company, and the people we serve.

I have done this sporadically in the past but cannot say that I have ever fully implemented it the way you describe. I love your suggestion to make it part of my weekly review and get it "on the books" before other things arise. Thanks for the great suggestion!

Great post Michael. I am currently using Outlook and the @Waiting For category to track things that I delegate. I found a great macro tool that allows you to select an email then press a toolbar button which runs a macro that creates a new task with the @Waiting For category assigned, attaches the email to the task and assigns the subject of the task as "email subject: person assigned to: date". I found this at http://blog.drakengren.com/lean-gtd-2007/. It's free and even works in situations where you can't install software on corporate computers. Hope this helps someone else simplify tracking their delegated tasks.

I have really been enjoying this entire series of posts but have to say that this one by far has been the most moving for me. All of us have had times in our lives when we thought that we were unlovable, or that others around us were unlovable, and Trish does a great job of capturing that emotion and then dispelling it. Made me stop and think. Thanks.

This has been an excellent eye-opener for me. I work in the human service field and we deal with difficult situations and people every day as a requirement. But there are those families that no matter what you do they are never satisfied. I hadn't really thought about the resources and energy that these high maintenance clients are stripping from my teams. Thanks for the insightful post.

Great post Michael. I think that all of us know this but often overlook how important it really is. I found myself feeling the same discouragement last week that you describe and realized that it was from being tired. Thanks for the reminder.
