Wonderful. Heartfelt.

The only place I ever let myself sob was in my car. Which is weird because of, you know, the windows. But somehow it feels insulated and private.

Yeah -- I was always the good kid, so I identified with Luke more too -- and always saw Han as the "bad-boy" that always got the girl. Of course, over time those images -- both of myself and the fictional heroes -- has greyed somewhat, but I think that's what life it for.

I do agree that the Dad McFly's ability to rise to the occasion is one of the enduring scenes from that flick -- a good call!

It's hard to think of time-for-reflection as one of life's necessities, but it can get pretty brutal to find yourself at the end of calendar where all you feel like you've been doing is bouncing from one thing to another.

Hopefully, things this coming year will settle out to a little more even keel. Clearly, your WWF prowess is showing you have a few neurons to spare... ;)

Great choice. I thought HBP was really excellent. I think my favorite though might have been Goblet of Fire, which I thought had the best pacing of the books and it was the one -- with the murder of Cedric -- where you realized with a bang that this was no longer a kids' series.

I was just amazed as I finished reading these books by the wonderful job that JKR had done. I was so impressed that looking back she had incorporated so many things from the early books into this finale so that it really did become a smooth, practically seamless story.

Great finale and I was happy for the coda at the end.

Great choice. I'm not sure what I'm going to end up doing, since I found out that it's part of a trilogy. Read the 2nd one as soon as it comes out? Wait until it's done -- or almost done -- and then read them through?

Oh -- and side note -- I haven't gotten ANY of these posts in my RSS feed of this into Google Reader!

Did you see the Swedish version "Let The Right One In?" It's really creepy and good -- I've got this pretty high on our Netflix queue and am really curious to compare the two versions.

Of the films I saw this past year, I'd only put Winter's Bone ahead of The Social Network. Like you, I thought it was amazing to watch this movie played out like it was history -- but history that isn't even 10 years old yet! I agree with Jen -- the script was fantastic. I'm a big fan of Sorkin and my goal in life is to be as quick-witted as his characters are.

I saw this last week too and I thought it was really good. I think I expected more of a knowing hipness (from the comments I'd heard) but it was played pretty straight up as a psychological thriller. Well done all around.
