Matt, sorry for the delay of a response! I am very happy that you commented on my article. We do have something similar that affects/affected us both. My father, before he died from suicide in 1999, always threatened to kill himself throughout his marriage with my mother & then beyond the divorce as well. Every time something happened he threatened suicide. When my mother knocked on my door to give me the news, she reminded me & my siblings that for 3 decades he always threatened to hurt himself. Suicide was ALWAYS an option to him & he made sure we all knew that. We need to try & do everything to try & prevent suicide...too many people are dying from it & it is a massive epidemic WORLDWIDE. As we need preventative measures, etc., we cannot be continually dragged down by the threat of someone always saying they will kill themselves if this happens, or if that happens, or if this doesn't work or if that doesn't work & so on. I am here to say that, after decades of the threats, he finally did it at the age of 47 on July 9, 1999. So, I know you said you really don't think your father will do it, but the fact that he could actually does work in his favor. It did with my father. You are young. Very young to lose a parent. I was only two years older than you when my father died from suicide. I will continue to pray & keep you & your family in my thoughts because I do not want to have you go through what I had to go through!
