Barry Bonds did not testify in front of Congress. He received a pass from testifying because his selective and obsessive prosecution was already well under way in SF. His conviction concerned grand jury testimony. He was acquitted of lying, but convicted of answering questions with the same surly obfuscation he had always used when responding to reporters. In short, he was convicted of being a jerk.
Having said that, Bonds was a treat to watch and belongs in the Hall of Fame, if only for his pre-steroid feats. Before he ever started with steroids, Bonds had 411 home runs, over 1,900 hits, a .411 on-base percentage, a .556 slugging percentage, and three MVP awards.
