Be sure to inform VA that if she needs someone's knees busted up with a baseball bat, she only need post a name. Or, you know, we can also offer prayers.

Will we really let shyness or a hint of impropriety keep us from discovering the truth about a dear friend and guiding light? What if she's in trouble?
Plus, I always like an adventure. I'll be in Richmond tomorrow and will drive past the house, even though we're reasonably sure it's not a plausible lead. I'll report on what I find.
If anyone is interested in my "conference of confidants" idea, contact me through my blog, and we'll try to set something up. Thanks Canadian for all you've done.

I hope Cabbage Role is right. If so, I hope VA knows she's got some loyal fans.

I'm writing this reply from Roanoke Island. I've grown up in this area and the legend has taken on a magical quality for some of us. I'm absolutely in love with this place and hope to establish permanent roots here.
Interestingly enough, the patch on that map, where the possible outpost may have been located, is very close to where I currently live. Matter of fact, I was just in a fishing tournament in that very location and, as we drove around the inland water ways, I was imagining what it must have been like for the early settlers. I'm intrigued to know the area may have been the final resting place of the Lost Colony.
If you look on Google maps, you'll see an area near that location known as "bacelor's bay" -- it's a small housing development on the far-western end of the Albemarle Sound. Were I to build a fort, I'd start in that general area (judging from the lay of the land).
When I get a chance, I'd like to drive the boat back down to that area and poke around some.

By the way: I would have posted sooner, but I couldn't (for the life of me) figure out how to leave comments. ;)

Is it worth the money to pay for a monthly subscription to ancestry.com ?
