Thanks for your note, Bill.

It's hard to say something negative about pleading the blood because it feels like speaking against the blood of Jesus. But I'm not speaking against the blood of Jesus; I'm only speaking against an action that has no scriptural justification.

I read your blog post. The Scriptures do say that Jesus is our Passover. But where do the Scriptures say that Jesus is our Passover only if we plead the blood over our families? I believe the promises of God apply to us because we believe in Jesus and are thus redeemed by the precious blood of the divine Lamb, Jesus Christ.

At Rose Creek Village, we teach Christians to believe that all things work together for good to those who love him and are called for his purposes. Thus, everything that happens to us is filtered through the hand of a loving God because we've turned our lives over to him to do with as he pleases, not because we do something like pleading the blood. It sounds spiritual and full of worship, but it's just unscriptural, and it teaches us to trust in an action that neither Scripture nor tradition teaches us to do. We have an alternative action we are called to that provides the very protection you describe, which is believing in Jesus.

I wondered if I would get a comment on this. To be honest, I didn't really feel like what I said was a completely accurate picture. I felt free to write that (the "breathless" part) because it's based on experience. I did have a couple discussions where I brought that up, and the JW's got that hold-your-breath-and-think-real-fast look on their faces. That really happened.

Where I wasn't being accurate is that a couple Jehovah's Witnesses have told me they don't really have a problem with the view of the Trinity I describe as coming from Nicea.

I can't say I fully understand what you're arguing, but I think Zech. 2 is too clear to deny. Look at it. You have Jehovah of armies saying "he sent me," and he says that Israel is like the apple of his eye and that he can wave his hand at their enemies to get rid of them.

So the "me" being sent can't be Zechariah. Zechariah can't wave away Israel's enemies. Only Jehovah can. And the "me" is said to be Jehovah of armies, and he's being sent by Jehovah of armies. Seems undeniable to me, and it seems there's just no way around it.

Thank you very much for the compliments about my family. Noah is a great young man.

Finally, there is no Zech. 2:23. Did you mean a different verse?

Yep. We all think we're the only weird ones, and it's a frightening thought.

Well, for some people it's a comforting thought, and their best friend is their messed-up mind. Gets them attention.

We can do better than that.

Thank you, Jennie. I wrote that post 3 days ago, and I scheduled it for today. Then I considered deleting it for 3 days, worried about looking stupid or, worse, weak. It took everything I had to take a deep breath, let what I think God wanted me to write go up, and risk looking weak or silly publicly.

Oh, great. You do have part 2 and 3 up. I wonder why my Google Reader didn't let me know? Techie stuff never works right for me.

Okay, reading them now ...

Being "internet friends" has always seemed strange to me, but I have a few--among them, you. I went to your blog, and I followed it. If you run across this comment by me, I'm waiting for parts 2 and 3!

I love those kind of stories, too.

The investment is well worth it. Those folks you live with are "our kids." They just don't look like kids anymore. I'm just as proud of them!

Always great to hear from you, David!

I'm passing that video internship offer on.
