On one hand, I can understand where she is coming from. Christianity is about Christ, and as long as she focuses on the object of her faith and the word of God, great.
On the other hand, Christianity is also about being part of a community, or to use an even stronger word, family. If she wants to follow Christ, great, but it will be significantly harder without a community behind her.
Like a family, the Christian church contains a group of many messed up people with all sorts of problems, but we stick with our family. I don't know if that was Rice's intent, but in some ways I felt like she was saying "I'm too good for my family". Perhaps I'm reading too much into it though.
Brant Hansen of Mornings with Brant said it best when he said (paraphrased) that she tends to think of Christians as Fred Phelps or punk rockers who beat up homosexuals. Why she has such a skewed view of who Christians are I don't know.
