It is dependent on the taxpayer for around 65% of its GDP and a large slice of that is comprised of the various subsidies England gives Scotland each year by way of the much higher per capita Treasury payment to Scotland than England receives, the English public service jobs exported to Scotland and the disproportionately large defence contracts given to Scotland amongst others.
