We are heading to SF next week and ended up booking a place through VRBO, a two bedroom that will cost each couple about $1100 USD for the week. Not a great price but not terrible. There were some cheaper places as well. You might want to check it out. :-)

I also went on an unexpected trip to MEC this month that put me over budget. Oops. You never know what you need until you're there, and suddenly a quick trip is long and expensive. I'm really glad I spent the money though - I've needed a new rain jacket for a long time.

Under $10,000 is still not bad for a wedding! I like the Sunday day idea. I'll have to keep that in mind.

A couple thoughts:
- you might be too low on the BM dresses and grooms gifts. 3-4 dresses for $200.00 is impossible in Canada, not sure about the US.
- don't forget postage for both invites and thank you cards
- don't forget thank you cards!

I have a similar list going in my head, especially as the seasons change and I want new pieces for the new weather.

I just bought a trenchcoat myself and have worn it every day since I got it. Definitely a good investment! I got mine from Banana Republic for about $200 with a coupon. If you are travelling to the US, look for it at a BR there - the prices are lower.

At the end of a work placement in high school, my supervisor bought me a beautiful porcelain figurine that I still have.

Congrats! So exciting! :-) Definitely brings a smile to my otherwise rainy and grumpy day.

Tips from buying our place -

(1) take a look at the surrounding neighbourhood. If there are empty lots, they'll be bought and developed eventually. Ask your agent if they know what might be going up around you and what the by-laws are regarding building. (Although be aware that the builder can always ask for an exemption.) This is happening around us right now. I don't really care but some folks in our building are really upset about it.

(2) take a look at the parking garage even if you don't intend to use it right away - we never saw our garage and it is TINY. Also, buy a spot even if you don't need it, because resale value will be bumped by a parking spot. I know we refused to even consider places if they didn't come with a parking spot,

I remember writing a post about condo hunting tips a while back, if you're curious I can send you the link or just search "condo hunting" on my site. :-) Good luck! Have fun! (Condo hunting really was one of the most fun things I've ever done.)
