Whoever said atheist use science to prove religion or a higher power. Science is used to understand the formation of the universe, the components of matter, the understanding of the human body, the workings of the Sun, etc. It has nothing to do with proving that a diety exists or doesn't exist. It is about understanding the natural law of the Universe and the components that make it work. My belief is there is no God and science has a better solution for providing answers on how to live a better longer and more fullfilling life. It is our salvation to understanding our surroundings through a given abilitiy to question and think beyond the scope of make believe. Religion is a set of rules used to shackle a mind and inflict harmful fairytale beliefs on the unsuspect who are born into the cult system.
