Um.....I think I am one of those people at the moment. I'm sorry! The phone is still new, and I'm still obsessed with its shiny fun-ness. Although I'm starting to catch myself thinking "Why am I checking Facebook again", or 'It's Sunday, nobody is going to e-mail you, put the phone down" - so I'm thinking my obsession is waning and soon I'll be back to being a normal, productive, non-annoying member of society. Until then, I'll try to walk in a straight line and keep an eye out for cars and everyone else.

#1 is nasty. We have signs up at work reminding (the females at least) to flush the toilet so as not to 'offend' anybody.

I don't think the signs are up in the men's bathrooms (or the men don't read them / pay attention to them) because at least once a month we'll get a mass e-mail from one of the male workers ranting about ppl not flushing.

Gross, yes, but I don't need to know about it!!!

Internet, cell phone and all the sundries associated with my little car. These are MUSTs (although with the issues that Mr. Cash and I are having with our ISP, and the fact that both of us have iPhones now, the internet may be bumped off until we move).

I second the brow waxing - unruly eyebrows are the worst!

I'm not sure about this, but Ms. Fuzzy the cat sort of falls into the 'But I NEED it!' category. I don't need a cat (nobody needs a cat) - she's kind of usless, and she's expensive - but I like having her around. But now that she is around, all the little things required to keep her alive are necessities (food, litter, vets bills, etc).

The legislation governing recognition of 'domestic partners' (the PC term for de facto or same sex couples) is pretty homogeneous across the states of Australia. The only stand out is, South Australia, where the requirement is a five year continuous relationship (or 5 year aggregate over 6 years). The other states and territories (ACT, NT, Queensland, Western Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania) all have a two year minimum. While you can register your relationship to ensure certainty, the courts will pretty much deem you to be in a domestic relationship if you meet the minimum, and all the rules relating to division of property can then be applied if you take the matter to court. Pretty neat, huh?

Having an interest in family law (and being slightly obsessive when it comes to planning), I've seen how things can go wrong, and I'm all for cohabitation contracts and pre-nups, especially when there is a disparity between the two parties. Mr. Cash, on the other hand, is a little more laizze-fair about these things. When Mr. Cash and I moved in together, apart from combining our DVD and CD collection and furniture (the rest went into storage) we came up with an oral agreement as to payment of rent, bills, etc, but nothing in writing. We also have the law on our side: couples who have been together for 2 years are considered de facto and can apply to the family courts for mediation or judgements should things go sour.

Made it through the archives! Great blog - I've really enjoyed reading your posts, and they've been very informative.

My electronic devices? Limiting the list to my personal devices, I have a laptop, an iPod and mobile phone. The mobile phone is a very, very basic Nokia (my original internet-capable, camera phone died a slow, sad death). I'm eagerly awaiting the end of my contract so I can get an iPhone (2 months to go!)
