Cervellis hitting .222 with one homer at AAA and you stand up and say he looks better than both catchers at the major league level. C'mon man, that's not close to true. I'm sure you could try to make an argument offensively, but it would eventually fail. Martin will come out of his slump eventually, and his OBP is actually not even bad right now. Defensively, there's no way that Cervelli is as good as Stewart. Stewart has looked great behind the plate, and his catcher's ERA is less than 2.50. Cervelli is no way better for the team than either of them.

I'm really enjoying these round ups of the minor league games. They are very informative and I am grateful that you take your time to post them. That being said, please can it with the nicknames. They are neither funny nor clever, just irritating.

Pineda and Nova are not prospects, both of them finished top 5 in ROY voting in 2011. Add CC, and you have a pretty solid lock on the first 3 rotation spots. Then consider Banuelos, Betances, Warren, Phelps, and Mitchell for the last two spots and there is a decent chance the rotation could be full at that point. Lets play devils advocate and say only one of those 5 pans out, Cashman can get somebody like a Garcia or Colon to fill in for a year.
I agree that Cain's contract affects the market, but I don't believe it has that much of an affect on the Yankees specifically. Firstly, they probably wouldn't go for big names like Greinke or Hamels (see above reasoning). Secondly, it is highly probable that Hamels will sign an extension with Philly in the next week or so. Greinke is also leaning towards an extension with the Brewers.

I can't wait until you Javier Vazquez pessimists are proven wrong. Kuroda has never pitched in the AL, can we at least give him a shot before we start trash talking him??

Butler is a solid player, but there's no way he would ever fetch that much in a trade.
