I should add that the problem with nukes is not melt down. A melt down fully contained is no hazard. The hazard is leakage. Conventional nukes may breach containment due to meltdown. The fact that thorium requires an ECS is not altogether comforting. It may be safer than U nukes.

No rush. We actually can afford some wasted time. ITER is a dead end. I like Polywell Fusion. Thorium? I like 1 GWe plants. Steam engines are high maintenance.
