That photo of mother and son is painful to look at. Just painful.

And further, it's a stretch to compare a full fledged military invasion kicked off with carpet boming a nation's capital wtih anything we're doing in Libya. I don't defend the Libya involvement in the least. It's just not comparable.

Sean - good post, but let's not pretend that liberals are supporting this incursion into Libya.

Didn't George Bush carefully get UN 'permission' to go into Iraq?

Does anyone remember that the 'tingle up his leg' Chris Matthews gushed about was when George Bush landed on the aircraft carrier? But Bush or Obama, it's still pretty embarassing.

[impeding science, science education, and general social advancement]

And there, right there, is how religion negatively affects the entire society. Most shocking to me is that more people today believe in end times and in creationism than did decades ago - MANY more.

Thanks for the ping Philly.

[In fact, while everyone is equally entitled to have an opinion, not all opinions are equally good.]

John - the assumption that opinions deserve some kind of respect regardless of their connection to any facts - often seen in cable tv for instance - is very destructive of a society. And now I see it everywhere. I have heard people, upon hearing that I beleive the sun rises in the east, say "well, of course, you're entitled to your opinion."

Bad stuff. And it's all over the place.
