The way Google structures these deals is to negotiate revenue split on the advertising revenue generated from the searches. This is what they do with Firefox, Amazon, and all of the big members of their search network. Microsoft has been buying market share by having high revenue guarantees to make up for their (historic) lower monetization. A revenue guarantee would be quite unusual for a Google deal. It is possible however that the revenue split resulted in $100 million or so for Apple.
