See, that sounds like the Verizon I've dealt with. No problems. One year they waived some fee, and then gave me 2000 extra minutes to dip into should I ever go over my 450 min plan (I think I used like 500 of them in the two years they were available). They also halved another fee for me once, when I went in to complain that I had an outrageous fee (around $200 I think) for text messaging, because I changed my plan in mid-cycle - in an effort to avoid paying outrageous text msg fees). While it was not 100% off, I was pleased with them.

Now...lol...as far as not offering the iPhone, wouldn't that be like being upset with Ford because they don't sell a (Chevy) Tahoe? Sort of?

Depending on the version of mail server you have (I'll assume Exchange), there's actually a web service/web site that it uses to configure mail clients - Exchange ActiveSync is what MS has it branded as. Not sure if that's what your IT people were using.

The default outgoing port for MS Exchange is port 25, if that helps, and the service/protocol is SMTP.

I did the same for the texts with my old Palm. Of course, the 'Berry I also did that too, and I can also yank them off the Enterprise Server at work if I wanted to.

We have AT&T at work. I'm not a fan, but I also rarely use my work phone but will admit I dropped calls very frequently when I did use it a lot. We have all sorts of problems with AT&T as far as service (ordering phones, etc) and when the boss man calls them and screams at them they always make it 'better' which sort of stinks, because every time they screw up he threatens Verizon which makes me happy because I could just drop my personal phone to a phone only account to keep my personal number, and then forward all the calls to the work phone and probably save about 80 bucks a month. But alas, they always make concessions so we still have them. Grrr.

If Verizon does get the iPhone you can always sell that microcell and use that to fund buying a iPhone on Verizon and putting it on your plan I suppose. For what it's worth, as far as the automatic syncing, BlackBerry is pretty much like that, though I never do it since everything is synced over the air with the server. BlackBerry's internet browser does stink however.

I dislike Steve Jobs and his smug attitude, in addition to the company philosophy that they know better than their users and they'll make choices for them... but that having been said... I'd have to say that I find his response humorous and I agree with Mika above that the student really should not have made it so that her whole project/paper's success hinged on that one quote. If a quote is what makes a paper an 'A' when sans quote she predicts a 'B' then it mustn't be that good of a paper in the first place.

I like it. I often sit in the smoking section (if available) to avoid most of the children. I'll deal with the stink of cigarette smoke than deal with some incorrigible brat.

The upset parents are suffering from what I call the PWK syndrome. As parents they feel they have special rights and privileges, as well as senses of entitlement and because they have kids you aren't to say anything about it. I mean, after all...they have kids! Shouldn't that be reason enough.

I hate AT&T. We have them for work. Thankfully I use my Blackberry for work email, etc. Wireless sync with the server, and if I choose to back it up on my desktop, it backs everything up. And my BB is on Verizon, so I haven't had many real signal issues (only in my old apartment in Summerville).

My boss (and some other people who were attracted to shiny toys) has an iPhone and his does that sometimes... instant voicemail notification when the phone never rang. Awesome....yet my little AT&T flip phone has service and accepts calls where his apparently does not.

I wanted to add that the call back when it's happening thing at the end sounds a lot like an HP website I had to deal with years ago. I had a LaserJet 1100, which turns out was a big piece of junk. But there was a site where you could get a free repair kit for it for when it wouldn't print in a particular configuration. Mine wouldn't print at all and it was suggested to get this free kit. I went online and ordered it only to be told at the end to *print* my confirmation and receipt. Really? I'm ordering parts for a non-printing printer and you'd like me to print that. Um, sure?

I, too, was shocked!

Your comment about the .xxx domain is spot on, and it also directly applies to the 'let's legalize marijuana' movement.

But that's the point, it's not *really* about protecting the institution of marriage, however flawed it may be - it's about discrimination against a group of people whose lifestyle they do not approve.
