This post is one I not only relate to, but am practically living - sans the traveling husband. It's tough to be the primary caregiver and still have work on the side. That village you have is priceless. I think that we must band together as communities to make the difficult career parent/work from home parent/parenting in general work. Keep your head up because I believe in you and you and Your Guy's success.

Emily loves playing princesses. She hasn't grasped that whole damsel in distress thing, though. Instead, she likes to dance with Prince Charming (usually Andrew) and get married. Oh and have a baby. (Not always in that order.)

I really fought the idea of having princess dresses in our house because I wanted Emily to be strong, and now that I see her and her personality I realize that she IS strong even when she's wearing her princess dresses. Hell, she runs our house.

(And by feel your pain, I mean I understand how pictures don't capture exactly what's going on. However, I am so glad you and your sweetie made it through that rough batch. That shows how resilient you both are.)

Of course I know what you mean and feel your pain, on so many levels.

If we lived closer, I would invite you over for drinks (virgin for me) every night. Seriously.

Justine, what a significant and hard transition you've made. While I don't talk about it often, this is something I've been thinking about: my evaluation of my current and future career goals. The thing is, I don't want to miss out on little kisses and words and other things but I know that staying home full-time is detrimental to my mental health. So I understand what you are saying when you talk of "waking up."

Justine, I don't find it odd that you worry over your daughter's statement. To worry about a donut at this age is cringe-worthy!

I applaud your honesty in posting this secret of your past. Like you, I suffered from obsessive caloric counting up until I gave birth to my daughter. What a freeing experience. I feel that as we speak openly about weight and how other's opinions impact our feelings, it will spread awareness and understanding so that maybe our daughters will have an easier go at it.

No good! I am so very sorry for all the sickness, I do hope it has passed! (Can you celebrate the New Years a week late?)
