My FAVORITE thing about this is that he's all, "YO I DIDN'T SAY IT NOTICE THE QUOTATION MARKS LIKE OTHER PEOPLE ARE SAYING THIS DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER POPE BUT YOU GOT A PR PROB, I'LL SOLVE IT."

I cannot describe, even with my most poetic superlatives, how incredibly happy this made me. I got that warm little balloon of joy in the middle of my chest reading it, and I do not even like cats.

The number of times I have heard this beggars belief.

I have JUST had a conversation with my husband about this and came up with the phrase "fetishization of burnout" -- it was related to some of the private schools in my city that seem to think they're BETTER just because the students do like 4 hours of homework every single night and never get breaks and the families' lives revolve entirely around their kids' academics.

It's so jacked up. It's like the protestant work ethic on steroids and it makes me mad if for no other reason than that it DOES NOT MAKE YOU MORE PRODUCTIVE. (N.B. at first I wrote "steriods" and I'd like to register that as an actual thing, like this is the worst period I've ever experienced, it's like a steriod.)

I feel slightly the opposite of this, in that some of my coworkers still treat me like the Young Irresponsible Untrustworthy member of staff despite the fact that I'm 34 and have almost 10 years of teaching experience under my belt? But that could be because I'm a teacher and am somewhat accustomed to being treated like a grownup by a room full of 17 and 18-year-olds.

We had a similar budget and ended up with a Prius and love every second of only having to fill up every 2 or 3 weeks. It's magical.

I would get an instant pot in a HEARTBEAT if I had the cash.

And also seconding the stick blender. It's my most-used appliance after toaster and kettle because what am I a barbarian
