Yes I understand the authorisation point, but I wondered if it would count as the authorisation is through a password given out, over a password that has been stolen, and when the access wasn't to data or programs, but to a blogging interface. Similarly if you gave a password to a friend who then posted on your blog. Obviously the intention is different here, but the mode of access isn't.

Yeah having investigated a little further, as UkUncut were given the password by the blogger, I don't know how illegal this is. They were given the password. So even if she breached a contract, it would be her illegal act, not theirs. It's not hacking at any rate: it's just a blog post onto an official site.

And the Computer Misuse Act looks like it covers misuse of computers in attempt to access programs or data without being authorised to do so, so I don't think it would cover a posting on a blog where access has been freely granted by the blogger.
