It's simple.
Shelters and rescues care for the victims of animal cruelty and neglect.
National animal welfare groups like HSUS confront and *stop* that cruelty.
Both types of organizations fill a vital role in protecting animals. Animal abusing businesses attack the national groups like HSUS because HSUS confronts and exposes their cruelty. The puppy mills, the factory farms, the circuses, all the corporate entities that have profited from that cruelty by hiding in the shadows are now finding themselves exposed and unable to continue their inhumane practices.
And they're showing their true colors when they try to use shelters as puppets -- to defend animal cruelty!
What more needs to be said?
The minions of the pet breeding industry, the reptile "hobbyists", and the factory farming industry will no doubt flood this page with hateful comments, raging about HSUS and shrieking about how HSUS is some sinister vegan plot to dominate the world.
Animal lovers speak out against abuse because we are concerned about the animals. Greedy profiteers speak out in favor of abuse because they are concerned with how much money they can make off the suffering of these animals.
Don't be fooled by the animal abusers who try to divert you from your goal of protecting animals from abuse. Support animal welfare: locally, nationally, and globally.

That's because Didi Culp is the figurehead for a front group run by one of the most notoriously evil PR firms in the US, Berman and Company.
Berman and Company operates a series of "nonprofit" front groups that try to smear the reputations of charities on behalf Berman's corporate clients.
For example, Berman's groups attack Mothers Against Drunk Driving and rages against sobriety checkpoints, in exchange for payments from the liquor industry.
They attack the CDC and urge pregnant women to consume 10x the safe levels of mercury in fish, on behalf of the seafood industry.
They attack unions and fight against worker wages and benefits, on behalf of the hotel and restaurant industries.
And now, they attack national animal welfare groups like the HSUS, on behalf of a host of industries that HSUS has exposed and confronted. Seal clubbing. Ringling Bros' abuse of elephants. Factory farms. Horse slaughter. Retail pet stores that support puppy mills. All championed by Berman's phony charity, "HumaneWatch", and all confronted by the HSUS.
Berman hasn't gotten much traction in his smear campaign, because it's difficult to defend animal cruelty for profit. So now he's working the strings of a new puppet, the HSSP, which is funded by the pet breeding industry. (That's according to co-founder Jeff Douglas, before he quietly vanished from the organization in a mass exodus of the HSSP leadership.)
HSSP provides NO services to any shelter, anywhere.
HSSP provides NO grants to any shelter, anywhere.
HSSP has no funds to assist shelters, but has a multi-million dollar budget for expensive nationwide print ad campaigns attacking the HSUS.
HSSP is funded by the pet breeding industry -- and *tries to conceal that fact*.
HSSP and its leadership actively spread false conspiracy theories about how animal welfare groups are secret plots to confiscate your pets.
Culp operates web sites and Facebook pages encouraging people to buy from a breeder instead of adopting from shelter.
Culp is currently the subject of an ethics investigation stemming from her misuse of Frederick County Animal Control's facilities in a propaganda video promoting her attack on the HSUS.
Culp routinely downplays the reality of animal cruelty, ascribing it to "accidents".
Culp publicly opposes spay and neuter programs.
Culp publicly opposes vital puppy mill legislation such as the PUPS Act.
Does this sound like a shelter advocate to you?
Don't be fooled: HSSP's interests are aligned with pet breeders, not with protecting animals from abuse.

The only exception is the cow in the Chino slaughterhouse, the abuse of which was exposed and confronted by the HSUS, leading to a ban on the slaughter of downer cows by Congress.
The commercials are not misleading in any way.

I have proven them wrong, again, and again, and again, and again! You dismiss the proof because it happens to be linked on my website, or because it comes from an authoritative source you don't like, or because you just don't want to acknowledge the facts.
Back up your claims in any of the dozen posts you've ignored, and maybe I'll consider continuing this "conversation". Anything else will be ignored.

Like Berman's other front groups, there's no substance to the organization, just a token board of directors, and behind the scenes, Berman and Company pulling the strings on behalf of its corporate donors.

You believe what you want to believe, even when it's obviously, demonstrably wrong.
