Nice post. I get where you're coming from, but I'm clinging to the hope that they can find a way to resign Reyes somehow (maybe if they can trade K-Rod). The Wilpons have allowed the franchise to drift over the past few years and they definitely don't inspire confidence, but I think they want to keep Reyes & Wright and will try to make it happen. If it doesn't, well, I'd rather not think about it until I have to. I'm going to ignore it for as long as I can.

I have nothing substantial to add regarding who the Mets actually draft, but I hope they pick the player they want (instead of the player who fits into Bud Selig's draft slotting system). The only time Omar Minaya was allowed to spend "over slot", he drafted Mike Pelfrey. I think that worked out ok. If the player they like is cheaper than others available at 7, so be it. But all I want from this draft is to see Omar pick the guys he wants, regardless of cost. I don't think that's asking for much...

The Ollie/Willis swap isn't going to happen. Willis' contract ends this year and Detroit would be crazy to take a bad pitcher with an extra year on his contract. I would continue to press Boras to get Perez to accept a demotion to the minor leagues, however, the team has to be careful: with the draft coming up, they may want to draft a Boras client. Once they get that squared away, DFA Ollie if he won't go down. But we're probably a month or two away from getting to that point.
