I'm disturbed. . . . But seeing as how that was the point of the list, well done. Still don't think I'll see any them, though, because that's just not my style.

An interesting list and well-written for the most part. All of the information is good, but there's some random/inconsistent capitalization which is distracting.

Other than that a good read. Thanks!

Of course it will be. All you have to do is indoctrinate all of your children and grandchildren with this new holy writ and it will last forever. And Listverse will never start any wars like the previous religions have done because all believers are/will be rational people and all non-believers are/will be too simple to realize that there is such a possiblity.

:P

Of course there are more than just ten comandments, but THE Ten Commandments refer to the ones given that Moses brought down off theMount Sinai, had engraved onto tablets and placed inside the ark of the covenant. (See Exodous 20, Deuteronomy 31, and 1 (or 3 depending on version) Kings 8.)

I've heard that the "apple" is the fault of John Milton and his "Paradise Lost." Don't have a source for that. But even while I agree that Bible doesn't name the fruit, I doubt that Milton came up with the apple on his own.

"Apple" used to be commonly used to denote a fruit in general also. Hence the pineapple--a fruit with spines--spiney apple--pineapple. It could be in that sense that Milton used the word and the language has just changed between his time and ours.

Thanks for that reference. I knew it was in there somewhere but couldn't remember just where. It's one of those things that 14-16 year-olds find to be extremely important/amusing in an early morning bible class.

When I read it cover to cover I averaged about 3 chapters a night and got through it in somewhere just under a school year. (I was in high school at the time.) Can't say that every section filled me full of the light of inspiration, but it gives a good reference for more specific study if you want to go back to it later.

There's a historical fiction/sci-fi novel called "Guns of the South" that has a time traveller take machine guns back to the Confederacy. It's apretty good, interesting read. Sorry that I can't remember the author's name at the moment.

Can't say that this was new info for me, but it is interesting.

I am conditionaly ambitextrious. Normally, I am right-hand dominate but still able to use my left. When I become excited/upset/stressed, that switches and I become left dominate. During one really bad year, it switched so completely that the only thing I could do with my right hand was to write on the board. Got out of that situation and within two weeks was back to using my right hand again.
Now I can choose either hand and not have it be a big deal.
