I know from personal experience that you're right about that. However, it doesn't change the fact that a significant number of them are only opposed to certain kind of divination.

In fairness, the dominant monotheism only looks down on things they recognize as divination. Many people take an approach of picking a random verse from the Bible every morning that is quite similar to many divination practices. And let's not forget about various ways that many Christians use to try and judge if something is their god's will (this practice is often referred to as "fleecing," based on the story of Gideon's fleece). They may not use a deck of cards, runes, or coins, but many Christians are well acquainted with their own forms of divination.
