Great idea! Viki suggested putting some kind of shellac on them. I'm letting her solve the problem because delegation is key to happy wedding planning.

I have definitely been going through that, but with dresses in place of music stuff. Which makes me feel pretty shallow!

Maybe! But I am not using flowers for aesthetic reasons too. My color palette is mixed metals and flowers can't really accomplish that. So this was the most cost-effective yet still awesome way I found to have my bridesmaids still carry something.

For a while I was avoiding this series to prevent regrets about my dress, but I, to borrow an expression "got over it," and I am so impressed with your selections/fascinated with the results. Sometimes you can see where the money goes into expensive dresses, and sometimes it is a total mystery. Keep up the great work, Britt, and I hope you find the dress of your dreams, Melissa!

Thank you for these great suggestions. Making my own pockets sounds like a lot of work but I am looking into it. As for pre-cutting the invitations, that was in my original budget, but then I remembered my sister-in-law is an art teacher and I can probably exploit her school's paper cutter.

I saw that dress in Brides magazine last month and gasped, because the neckline looks just like the neckline on my altered dress. I bought Blue by Enzoani's "Bria" dress (I think it retails for something like $1250? I got a discount for buying the store's sample), but am having one of the lace halter straps tucked across the chest to create the one-shoulder look. But, fair warning, radical alterations aren't cheap. I'd check out Britt's brill suggestions first! Good luck.
