I find the American Civil War fascinating (I'm English). The first truly industrial war, with an appalling number of casualties as the consequence.

I've recently re-watched Ken Burns documentary series about it - it is superb.

Hillsborough Stadium Disaster: I remember some of the graphic photos that the tabloids used. Those close up images of the bloated and distorted faces of people dying from asphyxia will stay with me forever.

Thank you "The Sun", "The Mirror" etc. Stinking rags the lot of them.
