Really thoughtful post about the real reasons behind bloggy slumps. I agree that once your kids are out of the "OMG they pooped again" phase, they become much harder to write about, and you have to be sensitive to their stories. I'm starting to run into that myself with my oldest (9).

I've turned my attention to being much more introspective when writing about my kids and telling my view of their stories v. making them the central focus. I mean, they're still the focus, but I write about them differently.

This was a good post, Amy, and one good post is better than twelve crappy ones. :)

Oh my gosh....this hits home as our dog is 13 as well and healthy as a horse..but we know the time can come any day. I hope you've been feeding him lots of steak ever since. Glad you got a little bit more time.

thanks! My only flub in that photo is the grated parmesan from a can....I didn't have fresh :) I *did* get your email about the Jamie Oliver thing...just emailed you back a bit ago. Trying to play catch up right now....Google Reader is up to 1000 items in one week so I'm doing a Friday Follow instead to rid myself of insomnia :)

I hear you...it's just as good to simply sprinkle, right? I discovered my kids actually don't like coconut [what's the matter with them?] and I was forced to eat those myself. :)
