A big one with sales staff (and tech support staff) is correctly sizing up their customer. The first employee would have done fine with somebody who's a techie, but was disastrous with the novice; the second might have turned off the techie if she'd talked down to him/her. Experienced sales staff will size up the difference in seconds.
