That is a really interesting game/website, and it really drives home how tough some decisions can be. I stuffed up my first two goes because I didn't realise you couldn't go into the negatives, which is a hard reality that not everyone is fortunate enough to have adequate savings to buffer. The third go I barely got out with $260 and had to face a lot of tough decisions I'd never considered before. Thanks for sharing this!

These things always make me question, in who's opinion is an appearance the most average/unattractive/beautiful/etc? I once saw something online about the most beautiful girl in the world, and she was created by picking the best features of hundreds of girls and incorporating them into one image. She looked fairly average :D

As for the pictures aboe, I hate to stereotype and say a certain race looks a certain way... but every ethnicity really does have very unique features. Being an Asian, I can immediately guess the ethnicity of most other Asian's on the street and the Filipino/Thai/Vietnamese/Chinese/Taiwanese/Japanese/Korean girls up there are very accurate portrayals. Also, I also know a Polish, Italian and Irish girl well, and while these friends look nothing like the girls above, they still have such uncanny similar features.

Interesting post :)

Searchable PDF's would be very handy. I scan my documents with a digital camera at the moment, using macro mode. When lighting is somtimes annoying, I just bluetack the page to the wall and it's perfect picture every time.

My work around to searching text is to load everything into OneNote that comes with Windows, which isn't a bad software actually, where I can sort them into folders and OneNote can search the text.

Might be an idea if you urgently need a 'portable scanner' option?

Oh my gosh. Had a look at the docupen, think I am in love!

I've seen that type of printer in action about two years ago when a renovation consultant came to our home, and I have to say I wasn't too impressed with the technology then... it needed to be plugged in, was still quite clunky at about 10cmx30cmx10cm, took a long time to locate the printer on their laptop, and the paper they used was specific to the machine and came out very curled and not durable. I'm very curious to see how much technology can be improved in two years!

You're not crazy - unless we're the only two crazies in the world. I've cataloged my clothes too. I went through about half of them before I got really sick of it, and cleaning out a ton of the clothes to sell/donate/throw. Now I've got half of what I had before, but I haven't gotten around to re-cataloging what's left.

I think I also got ahead of myself, and started trying to put all the possible outfits together before I'd taken photographs of individual pieces, and so I got tired of the whole project really quick. Thanks for the reminder, this post inspires me to finish off what I started!

Let me get that right - only 9 pieces of clothing? Wow! If you're planning to be doing serious tourist-ing and moving around for the majority of the trip, where will you fit in time to be washing (and waiting for clothes to dry)? That's the only thing I'd be worried about, the clothes turnover from washing.

Oh and the other thing I'd worry about is that bag. I have a similar one and after just half a day of walking, my shoulder was gone! How does this bag feel for you?

I love all the different pouches you have, and bringing reusable bags is very clever. Definitely comes in handy and something I always forget.

Awesome post :) It was really interesting hearing your reasons for the different type of shoes, and I must say I agree with most of them. I think I do have 20+ pairs of shoes sitting at home at the moment, as I went a bit crazy last time I went to Asia (shoes for $4!). I've packaged a lot of them to donate though so I guess that doesn't really count as shoes that I own. The main difference I see between my shoes and yours is that I do own a few sneakers.

I'm shocked by your BF's (lack of...) shoes. Surely surely dress shoes are a must. What does he wear to the beach? Aaah, a bit too bare for me :P

Hmm this tempts me to do a shoe post some time too, just to be honest to myself and see exactly what I have :D

Ergh, I find that type of re-gifting rude. I feel like the person doesn't want to deal with it properly if it's bad/broken/unusable, so they let someone else deal with it. One of our neighbours works at a grocery shop, and always gifts us food that has 'just' gone out of date. We also have a few packs of bath+perfume sets or soaps that people have obviously regifted us (old fading packaging, crumbling soap) and now we have to deal with it. I don't know why it offends me so much, but it makes me feel as if I'm a rubbish bin to someone else and their hands are clean.

I do agree with re-gifting, but like you said, not if it is actually an obviously bad gift.

Hahahaha, I love banter like this. It's great hearing bits and pieces of your dialogue with BF, I think it reveals a bit more of your characters. I like the - "because money can spear a chicken" :D
