So David you would concede that noone of color has ever been denied anything simply because of the color of their skin even though they were qualified for the position. Since you denounce Affirmative Action as garbage.
Actually she didn't take race into consideration. During this time there was plenty of discrimination going on where black farmers where being denied loans and services and she was presented with the dilemna of knowing that. Now lets look at the members of the USDA that were presented with assisting black farmers and they did discriminate against them. I know its easy for white folks to denounce racism and discrimination when they are doing it but the facts remain the same.
Yes Buddy lets talk about that. Mrs. Sherrod ran a non-profit that was viable and making great headway but the non-profit was DENIED assistance by the USDA on loans and opportunities to promote their product causing the business to fail. If you do your research like a good American citizen you would also realize that this was a practice that affected thousands of black farmers causing them to lose their farms. If you check you will notice that most of the land was lost and then claimed by white farmers and businesses. The 13 million was a settlement for having practiced this and their case was tried and won in a court of law. The 150,000 thousand was punitive damages her and her husband received for the trauma and loss.
Actually 1 out of every 7 farmers in the US used to be black. Now because of the practices of the USDA that resulted in the Pigford Farms Case that number is 1 out of every 100. The 1.3 billion is actually small considering the number of farms that they caused to fail and the livelihoods of the families that were destoyed because of this. Much of it was done so that white farmers and towns could get the land from the farmers and build or farm themselves. All it takes is a little less racist look at this and more of an actual investigation into what went on during that time and you could sleep a little better at night. Slavery and racism, lynchings, burning of homes and farms has never happened here in the United States so discrimination can't be believed.
Why just cause it sounded good to say it. First you need to have some wrong doing and so far the NAACP hasn't done anything wrong except not getting info on this video Mr. Breitbart editted to suit his needs and look at the whole video since they had it before they reacted. But I know you saw the whole video and formed your opinion right?
I looked into what the senator put out there about Mrs Sherrod's non-profit receiving settlement money and it seems the USDA had purposely refused them assistance on what was becoming a viable farming business causing them to half to actually shut down the business. They sued the USDA and won a 13 million dollar settlement because they were able to prove their case in a court of law.
Mrs. Sherrod wasn't hired by the USDA because they felt exthorted or anything. They recognized that the model her and her husbands non-profit put together and made work was beneficial to rural farmers and that is why she was placed in that position.
Just figured I would provide some truth since most of you internet savvy folks get your info from blogs instead of actually looking up things for yourselves like intelligent people would.
You know after watching the entire video of Mrs. Sherrods commentary at the NAACP meeting where she was a guest speaker not member, didn't seem to see much that was racist. But that video that Mr. Breitbart spliced and editted sure made it seem like she was. But I guess finding that out wasn't important to any of you, huh cause you believe him instead of the truth.
