The Conservative Canadian government would only be too glad to protest the human rights abuses in Iran - not for the sake of rights themselves, but to pursue its geopolitical interests in the region.

If we truly care about the people on the ground, let's not side with those who are pushing for a military intervention or crippling sanctions, which would only affect the innocent. What we need is grassroots solidarity work at the level of communities and activist groups.
