Hi MsWinston, I disagree. I didn't think the cereal challenge was silly at all. I've made dinner recipes before using cereal, in fact got a great one here on Food Network several weeks ago, using Crispix for oven fried chicken (its very delicious by the way!) I also thought the quinoa pilaf sounded and looked tasty. I have had a bag of quinoa in my pantry I haven't used, and I can't wait to try Aarti's recipe. Anyway to answer the question posed in this blog entry, probably the best challenge was when the group did their recipes live in front of the crowd, judges and cameras when they made their jarred sauces. It seemed like that challenge really tossed them into the fray and tested everything at once, their culinary skills, their marketability, their ease in front of a camera and crowd while preparing food. My complaint about some of the challenges: what actually annoys me (greatly) are the overly stringent time constraints. I don't understand why you gave them such a short amount of time to shop, prep and cook their meal, and then expect some miracle at the end? Especially in the last challenge where they were preparing the meal for the foodies. It seemed like almost everyone's food suffered because of the time constraints. Why the time constraints? This isn't Top Chef. I just don't think it's realistic or fair to the contestants and I don't understand how that will help the judges reach their decision. Anyway that's my one complaint ... love FN, love TNFNS!! Would love to see Aarti, Brad and Tom in the final 3, Aarti for the win. =)
