The educator in me thinks that these reasons are just the tip of the iceberg. I'm wondering if there are things we should be doing in the younger years -- perhaps starting with fourth graders -- that would prevent this exodus. I'm not sure the whole story has been told. Just thinking, no conclusive data (anecdotal or empirical). Just wondering.

However, when I think about the entire Summit I believe his explanation about Robert Schultz not speaking was the best leadership lesson of the entire time. Bill modeled class, love and concern for everyone. There was no politicization of the issue at all. He's the Man!

I thought Bill's talk was the best of them all today. That doesn't take anything away from the rest of the speakers. That's just how good he is! Lots of thought and work to do from that one for sure!

Hey Ron,
I love America because we have the NY Giants!
Have a GREAT July 4th celebration.

PS: Okay a more serious answer... Because we live among the greatest generation. Soon they will be gone. Will our generation be known as the greatest or the one that started the decline of what we hold so dear?

I have one of those gifts found in Ephesians 4, so I love equipping people -- paid and volunteer -- to better serve and lead.
Call me crazy, but I do like it when funds are tight and we have to mobilize & equip more volunteers. I think that's what it's all about!
Hope you have a great day. Thank you for the great post Tim.

I've said for our kids it's been 130% God and -30% Louise & me. Our children have turned out wonderfully and all following strong after Jesus! All serving Him today and they're in their 30's now.
Congratulations on this milestone in your life Tim & Faith & Heather.
I look back on our kids' high school and college days with nostalgia. I hope you guys do too!

Loved the post Tim. I think guys who have had the education you've had are light years ahead of those of us who had formal education. You've had an education, just in a different arena.
And... frankly... it's not all it's cracked up to be. The day I defended my doctoral thesis at Indiana University I went back to my office after it was over. I sat there thinking nothing is different, I just have several letters after my name. Was it worth all that work? When I started my doctoral work my son was in jr. high. When I finished he had a masters degree. I envy -- not in a sinful way -- the educations guys like you have had in the real life realm of ministry.
Hope you guys had a great Easter weekend. Ours was just a blessing from God.

Hey Tim,
Great quote from Brian. I agree with you, I don't agree with everything he says or writes, but do with this quote of his. In fact I can identify with his journey. It's one I've been on myself. I love the freedom of where I am now, but do hold the people in my past -- including my Mom -- in high regard.
Have an AWESOME Easter at Granger. We are looking forward to a great celebration of the resurrection here at LifePoint!

Okay this is weird. On my iTunes playlists I do have one for my wife. Her name is Louise. So it's "Louise". Hang on I'll go check it and give you my favorite off that playlist.
I've got to give you two sorry!
"More Today Than Yesterday" by The Spiral Starecase
"Those Eyes" by Bob Baldwin. In fact I listen to this song almost every day!
Hope this helps.

First of all I'm a Cuse fan! I put my intellect aside and have picked them to go all the way in both "pools" I'm a part of.
Second, at LifePoint Church our staff has talked about Rob Bell, but not in a desparaging manner. We want to read the book before making any conclusions. My daughter who is a Jr. High Pastor in Indianapolis was dissapointed by John Piper's words, but I have not read those yet either.
I appreciate Eugene Cho's comments as well on this topic. I am including a link to Eugene's blog post on this topic. You're in good company. I agree with both of you on this topic. Here's Eugene's post link: http://eugenecho.wordpress.com/2011/02/28/what-th...
Thank you for your thoughts.
