The 4.8T claim is based (I think) on IEA numbers … here's a blog post about it: iea blog

They went on to revise the figure upwards.

If anything the claim that the debt is £4.8T understates matters:

The thing is.. we need cuts on the sort of scale that the unions are afraid of. 30/40 % or more. I suspect you know this John. So I'm not afraid of the strikes. I'm afraid of the lack of will to make real cuts.

Unless you can somehow alter the “progressive” cultural world view - which is largely manufactured by an unholy alliance of pressure groups, fake charities and the BBC – then the coalition is doomed to fail.
