Such a broad baseless statement has no meaning. Your statement indicates only that you have chosen to shut the door to understanding others. It appears you haven't taken the trouble to observe the wide spectrum of attitudes, behaviors, beliefs and thinking -- not to mention the huge differences among them -- which come under the heading of religion. Lack of ability or desire to observe and reason is the true straitjacket of the mind.

I quite agree with you! Especially since you have used the quote marks and lower case! My whole point was that those calling themselves "Christians" while behaving in the most egregiously unChristlike manner are self-contradictory. They are merely looking for validation of what they want anywhere they can find it. There are those who truly want to do what Jesus taught and quietly go about that activity wherever they are. They just aren't nearly as interesting to journalists as the bigots who tend to shriek and stomp and agitate. Earlier in the passage I reference in Matt. 7 starting at verse 15, it says that "by their fruits" they will be recognizable. Breivik is at best hideously misled considering his fruits, and the same for those whose writings he followed. I don't think it judgmental to describe him as no Christian at all but a raving bigot based on that Matt. 7:15 quote.

I think it is difficult to call someone a Christian who does not follow the teachings of Jesus, no matter what they call themselves. Jesus said there were only two laws to follow since he had come to fullfil the Old Law. Those two laws were to love God with all one is, has and does and to love one's neighbor as one's own self. Nothing is said about this law being void if that neighbor is of a different citizenship or ethnicity -- because it is valid no matter what. Another interesting fact of what Jesus taught is that he said that there will be a great surprise on the day of judgment when many cry "Lord, Lord" (Matt. 7:20-23) and he does not recognize them as his followers because they took his name in vain, calling themselves Christians but not following those two simple but eternally important rules. If a mocking bird calls itself an eagle does that make it one? <div style="display: block; margin: 6px 0pt 0pt;"><a class="a2a_dd" href="http://www.addtoany.com/share_save">Share/Save/Bookmark
