They have a choice. They can run adverts like they do: a single box at the side and treat users well, or they can cover the site in adverts (like digg), treat users like shit and make lots of money.

Jesus Christ Siegler. Facebook and Twitter are not at all competitors, whatever gave you that idea? Has anyone ever said "I am going to use Facebook, not Twitter" or "I am going to Twitter, not Facebook!"? No.

It's September 2010, techcrunch article is posted. "New service for proving you're alive by @robinwauters" is seen via Twitter, the article announces "Deadr" a new service that hooks up to your internal organs and when you're dead it tweets about it has received $10,000,000 series A funding!
