I'd prefer to "pay some mind" to legislation that uses language that literally refers to gays and lesbians as unnatural, aggressive, intolerant, disease-ridden, ungodly, and unacceptable and that also aims to give power to legislators to invade my private life and criminalize my sex acts.

By their boldness, GOP is demonstrated that there are a sizable number of Texan Republicans who feel this way. Doing nothing is probably NOT the wisest course of action.

I have another question - why did I forget to put a ? after every question in my article? :)

If this is solely about a state's right to govern than why the focus on sodomy. Is that really the greatest issue in the debate between federal and state authority. And EVEN if it is totally innocuous, how about they not fight this battle using legislation that COULD potentially see my privacy violated and be used to throw me into jail. And if it is simply a legal maneuver, why is it under the heading "CELEBRATING TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE" and why is it one paragraph after the line "Homosexual behavior is contrary to the fundamental, unchanging truths that have been ordained by God"

The GOP wants to criminalize gay sex AND criminalize acts that strengthen the fight for marriage equality. It's fine to say that they don't actually intend on throwing anyone in jail but, if that's the case, why the push to criminalize these acts. There aren't very many other reasons to make these acts into felonies.

I agree the analysis is hyperbolic. But the actual, literal language of the law refers to gays and lesbians as unnatural, aggressive, intolerant, disease-ridden, ungodly, and unacceptable. By drawing attention to this AND by reacting with legitimate anger, can you really still state that the reactions by the blogger and the posters as "the same thing, just on different sides of the debate. "

I can't think of a more sophisticated way to say this but....wow, what a bunch of hateful pricks.
