Just listened to the podcast of Francis Chan from last year's Newspring Leadership Conference - he referenced James 5:17 "Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth."

One of my take-aways: Stop with the excuses. Step out in faith. Faith in God's power not my strength.

Quite a kiddo you've got there!

I too, have a rebel daughter. I once heard the term "rascal" defined as a "rebel WITH a cause" so now we just call her The Rascal.

When she was 3 her preschool teacher told me that Katey has all the unique qualities that make a great adult - thinker, leader, not going to let public opinion dictate to her...then she went on to say it was my job to let her live to see adulthood! That woman was a prophet!

Raising a rebel/rascal has it's challenges but the rewards FAR outweigh the problems. She has kept us smiling, laughing and thanking God for her presence for the last 23 years! She is beautiful inside and out and spreads fun wherever she goes.

I wish I had more rebel in me...

Wow. Guilty as charged. Thankful for my access to scripture (I've never NOT had a bible...) and I'm ashamed for taking it for granted so often. Thanks for posting this. I will pass it along!

Perfect post!

I read on Twitter a few weeks ago..."Forgiveness doesn't mean what they did was okay. Forgiveness means waht they did won't hold you in prison anymore."

This one has been printed out and stuck to my fridge for 4 or 5 years - as a message to the ENTIRE family! Love it!

Hmmmm, I wonder if you are with the group hosted by my pastor, Steven Gibbs? He and Jason Howard are in Ecuador this week with Compassion as well. Wouldn't that be something? :-)

Just joined today! Already have all 3 on my index cards. I love that so far the verses are helping to affirm and support my OneWord 2011... "DO". 1)"...everything you "DO" flows from it [your heart]" 2) I can plan my course, but the Lord determines my steps, and 3) For my mind to be peaceful (and it hasn't been overflowing with peace as I struggle to know what I'm supposed to "DO") I must TRUST in God.

Thanks for this. The accountability will be fantastic (even if it is online...).

I wrote my post last night to be published this morning. My word is DO - similar to your word from last year of ACTION. My motto for the year is JUST DO IT...

A runner who never leaves the starting line gets no closer to the finish line. A rocket that never leaves the launch pad never hits their target. Imma get off my bum and DO SOMETHING this year instead of just thinking about it or planning it!

No way are you too picky. But you are extremely wise. Those are excellent qualities. Don't you dare settle for anything less! (Now...this Mama of 3 daughters has spoken!)

Wise words indeed!
This Spring I read "66 Love Letters," Dr. Larry Crabb - told EVERYONE I know to read it (even purchased 2 copies for those resistant). Also read "Hinds' Feet on High Places" for the very first time - CLASSIC, recommended to everyone as well. If I read a really great book I turn into a walking book report...
