When I was a child I had a set of Old Maid (children's playing cards) which were illustrated by Racey Helps. Some of them had owls on them. Owls dressed up. Most horrifying and traumatising thing I'd ever seen. (although he did owls-in-clothes in other illustrations they are more figures of fun; these were creatures of nightmare).
