My answer to the often asked question about the difference between a leader and a manager is that you can manage all sorts of things (resources, budgets, projects), you can only lead people. A leader without followers is just some idiot wandering off on their own.

That's why I agree that all leaders have to be people-people whether they are introverts or extroverts. They have to be interested in people and what makes them tick.
