My name is Blackbird Kass. This is not my real name. The names in this blog have been changed to protect the innocent, and to protect me from the guilty.

Truth is stranger than fiction.

This is my story, pulled from the deepest recesses of my soul. In the retelling of my life, I may find some answers that have been haunting me – Why did this happen? What could I have done to change it?

In the retelling of this story, the reader might take a glance at his or her own life and pose the question – Is what I am doing harmful to myself and others?

I implore you to read with an open mind and heart. I implore you to take what I have written and apply it to your own life. I also implore you to respond in kind. Leave a comment, a verse, a poem, a reaction…let others know what you have been through.

I want you all to know that you are not alone. We are all in this together, this fight against domestic violence. Let your voice be heard. Let it ring over the mountains and the sky. Sound your barbaric YAWP over the rooftops of the world.
