I loved the Ramsey post and wish I could work at a place like that. Only thing that bothered me was the line - "but there’s chocolate to be made" - it conjured up images of smelly things as opposed to delicious goodness....like you really had to go or something.

i am 100% on board with using the word "diphthong" as an insult instead of a grammatical term. in fact, it would be best used in an open letter... "Jon Acuff, you ARE a diphthong!"

you know, i'm just going to say it - i am tired of the double-standard that exists in this world. the world expects christians to be perfectly tolerant and loving of others, but the world itself is completely intolerant of Christ's followers. christians are severely flawed and damaged individuals thirsting for an undeserved forgiveness - every minute of the day. __WE SIN. WE ARE MEAN, HYPOCRITCAL, JEALOUS, ENVIOUS GOSSIPERS WHO LIE, LUST AND KILL WITH OUR ACTIONS AND THOUGHTS. the only difference between one who follows Christ and one who doesn't is that we cry out to Jesus to wash us with His forgiveness for all that we are and acknowledge our inability to cleanse ourselves. WE HAVE NOT SKEWED CHRISTIANITY. we are skewed individuals to begin with - all of us. that is why we are in such need of a loving, self-sacrificing Jesus to die for us. THAT IS CHRISTIANITY.
i know Jesus said the world would hate us (john 15:18) but this doesn't take away from the fact that i am personally tired of this anti-christian mentality....from both the inside and the outside of the church. i may even start a pro-christian rally all by myself (admittedly, i'd be scared of being spit upon or beaten to death).

i suppose admitting to things like adultery (silly women, adultery is for men!) or the like....sharing your struggles with anything other than "not reading my bible/praying enough" or "being over-committed to church activities".

(i'm not saying most christian women are this pious; for some reason we just tend to act this pious when placed in a group of strangers)
