Am I really called to youth ministry? Do I have the gifts I need? Why am I lacking in some of the typical gift-sets of those in youth ministry. I can't play the guitar. I'm not male. I'm not wild and adventurous.

In my ministry, it is a lack of an integrated faith. For many of my students, church is just something they go to. I have been told by students that their faith doesn't make a difference at all in how they live life. At least they are honest I guess. This has led to some deep systemic issues I am now wading through with the group.

Networking is actually one of my top priorities upon arriving in a new ministry!
Within a couple of months of starting at my current church, I was connected with a group of youth ministers from a variety of denominations. It is now a year later and I am now starting to work on making more connections denominationally as well.
I just can't stress how important it is to me! So important to my mental and spiritual health, as well as my longevity in ministry! And I can't tell other youth minister enough how important this is for them too!!!

I'm not a Nazarene. So can't comment on that.

But I love the resources this ministry and others associated with it are putting out.
Probably the best resources I've seen on the market today. So I say keep doing what you are doing and do more of it!

Also, LOVE Monday morning is for the random.

That's all.

We do very little in the way of planning events together. We do invite each other to events that we are planning or share the work of doing retreats, etc. together. but those conversations typically happen separately from our monthly meeting. I would think of us as more a support group for people in youth ministry (heaven knows we sure need the support!!). We go around and share what is going on in our lives, in our hearts, and in our ministries. We spend time praying together. We spend time sharing and listening. And sometimes we share ideas, solutions, or resources. Such as, I'm hosting an Enroute training workshop at my church and inviting all the ministry leaders from the group and their volunteers to come. I'm probably the newest one to the group, and the only female! But I make a point to set aside those couple of hours each month to go! I actually made it a priority to find a network of others in youth ministry as one of the first things I did when I moved. Huge priority to me!

I had a hard time focusing on the video because I knew right away that was Emma Crumbees from my home town! Haha!
Anyways, we have a great youth ministry network here in Jersey! I am glad to be a part of it!

I definitely agree with number one!
One I would add is not taking care of myself - emotionally, physically, spiritually. It is hard to balance personal life and ministry for sure!
And I am going to echo the comment about being a lone ranger. The thing is, I'm having a hard figuring out how not to do that!

Any advice??
