Yes it is a useful aspect to notice. From the recent talks of his I've listened to he's not as focussed on 'attacking' traditional ideas of rebirth in themselves as exploring the question of how people in general or dharma peeps in particular use any theories/ideas about the world or practice to cling to views and solidify our 'place', our fixity of being this or that.

On my first quick reading, this post is detailed and reasonably comprehensive but often resorts to excessive critiques of Batchelor's speculated intentions while inadequately assessing his substantative argument with spurious tags such as "atheist", "materialist" and "rationalist", as if these intellectual associations are somehow killer blows to his position.

The music that comes in around 2:40 seems awfully loud and a bit too trancey also. At least when watched on my laptop.

This is a good start to the series, though maybe a wee bit meandering, especially as from previous pods we all know Hokai can do focussed and precise. I'm looking forward to the rest. Hopefully they'll get a little more meaty.

N.B. To BuddhistGeeks: You should have a look at the comments/trackbacks above. Other than JoelG they are spam/noise.
