My husband and I have shopped at commissaries for over 35 years--we were active duty 28 years and now retired. I can't imagine shopping anywhere else! When I visit my grown children and shop at the stores near them, the prices are overwhelming. Look, we are ALL spoiled in America by the choices we have. Stores upon stores are loaded with food---something beyond the imagination of billions of the world's population. So either way, I will be grateful for wherever I go shopping. But as lifelong travelers in the military, we always felt at home on the base, and appreciated the privileges that went with having a military ID. As others have mentioned, grocery prices in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, San Diego, and the DC area are excessively high. With all the handouts that are passed on to civilians, shouldn't there still be some perks for serving our country's highest call?
We've been shopping at the commissaries for 30 years. Everytime I walk down the aisle, I thank the Lord for all the choices, provision, and abundance we have--not only in the commissary, but in our country. I would be saddened and affected greatly by any commissary closings, but will choose to be thankful for the amazing amount of food we have in every corner of America.
Thank you for this...I've been having a hard time keeping my perspective through this entire ordeal. Holding on too tightly. You're encouragement helps me let go. Trust God. And laugh again.
Our church in Ottawa, Ontario should come with a GPS in the bulletin because we've moved so much. Five location in 5 years, and currently meeting on Saturday nites in the party-hardy nightclub area! Growing exponentially, praise God!!
Thanks for this! So many I want to share this with...so they can hear the best news ever today! Thank you again!
Thanks for this transparent post! I don't want to be an 'at least' Christian, ever!
And some other 'war stats' show that more deaths happen on the battlefield during the first and last month of a deployment. What's that say? That we must be ready for those 'big' battles by getting in the Word right away! And then, not grow confident, lazy or weary in our own strength as we press on..."So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall." I Cor. 10:12
Does it take a lot of skill to get all the guys at a Men's Conference to yell out "I Love Jesus, YEAH!"? Or, is this more entry-level?
God is altogether GOOD! Without His awesome goodness and grace, I wouldn't be here, my marriage would be over, my family would be totally messed up, two grandchildren would not even be, and the honour of being able to servie Him would be literally unheard of! What a mighty God we serve!!!
Great post! My husband and I travel alot, so when we found ourselves on I-95 with NO traffic going either way, we began to wonder...rapture..or nuclear holocaust...what are WE doing here?
This is one of the reason we blog.... Thank you, Jon!
