Great point with Blog and Report for Spam. Unlike email, Twitter has only one "post office." So complaining to the Postmaster (via Block and Report for Spam) is an effective way of limiting the amount of impact an individual spammer can have.

This is great, Martijn. If a problem happens and you fix it, you get credit for having *done* something. If you prevent the problem from happening, no credit. My partner in my old IT firm used to challenge our Wall Street bosses. We'd always get the question "What do you guys do and why are we spending all this money?". His response was "are your systems up and running all the time? Good. That's what we do."

Although I'm not comfortable with the Wikipedia definition of gamefication, I see where you're going with this, and I agree. Motivation is about as subjective as it gets. However, there is commonality in motivation that can be targeted (for good or ill) using gaming techniques. The key is to find the commonality.
